You will benefit by becoming familiar with the lessons of both EEL and IEW by reading these posts below in the left column. I will post this information each after our CC day. You will also be encouraged and equipped by having the links in the right column always accessible. These links include calendar items, schedules, and resources. Take heart! YOU CAN DO THIS!

EEL

REVIEW:
The kids came in and wrote out the NOUN chart. We plugged in some noun usages into sentences. Then we ended with talking about the importance of pronouns.

SENTENCE STRUCTURE
Cx: has an independent clause and a subordinate clause.
We reviewed this chart again to get in our minds what is what.

PURPOSE:
Declarative: What do we know about the Declarative purpose?
1. Declarative = makes a statement or declares something
3. Period at the end of the sentence.
NEW GRAMMAR:
  PATTERN: S-Vt-DO-OCN and S-Vt-DO-OCA

Before I could share the LAST two new patterns, we looked back a bit to truly understand nouns and adjectives and their influence on our sentences. Isn't it great that we can build on our knowledge?

DIALECTIC: We devoted our time to build a S-Vt-DO-OCN sentence. It was hard for some of us, because these verbs can be hard to work with, ESPECIALLY if you are RENAMING! AGH! We will enjoy doing this activity with OCAs, no doubt!

I rolled out TWO opportunities to identify and diagram a few extra sentences. Really, I wanted to give our dialecticians and rhetoricians a challenge.

MATH
We enjoyed a fantastic new game called GRID. A grid was made up on the board and the kiddos had to work together to fill it up! The kiddos did GREAT!!

We learned a lot of good lessons here. We will tweak this game and try it again next week.

IEW

REVIEW: We took time to listen to each other’s paper and play a quick vocabulary game.

NEW GRAMMAR: UNIT 7
INVENTIVE WRITING- next 3 weeks
Inventive- (something you have come up with) Inventory- stock of stuff you have. Inventio- discover CANONS of RHETORIC (gather ideas)

This is a TWO week project. Week 1 we will think of topics and bring them to a paragraph, THEN we will add an intro and conclusion during Week 2.

There are 4 steps this week.
 Brainstorm Subject/Prompt
 KWO two topics
      Add dress ups/Write paragraph
      Final Draft/Use Checklist

DIALECTIC: We modeled ONE topic in KWO form using Hawaiian Falls. SO FUN and refreshing.
