“Therefore, preparing your minds for action and
being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be bought to you
at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

NEW GRAMMAR: Here are the new concepts we covered
this week.
P.O.S: Prepositions (Pr) Chart J
1.A preposition relates
a noun or pronoun to another word.
The preposition, its
object, and the modifiers between them create a “prepositional phrase”.
Prepositions are always
followed by a noun, which is called the “object of the preposition”. (OP)
If it modifies a verb-
then the Prep. Phrase is adverbial, meaning it acts as a verb. (How? When? Where? Why? How often?
How much? To what extent? Under what condition?)
If it modifies a noun-then
the Prep.Phrase is
adjectival, the phrase acts as an
adjective. (what kind, how many, which? Whose?)
A. She sat between
her friends. (((Sat where? between her friends – adverbial)))
B. I bought the dress with the blue stripes.
(((Which dress?- adjectival)))
C. See how the
prepositional phrase is added on a diagram?
3. Don't forget the song/dance for the Prepositions.
Memorizing these prepositions would be wise! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wP4BVdA9zYg
4. Jennifer read the little snippet
and the students identified ALL the Prs and OPs.
COMBO OF 3 SENTENCE:
Jennifer did a fabulous job coming up with a sentence for the class using our newfound knowledge! It seemed like there was a hang up with identifying some parts of the sentence. Jennifer and I worked together once I got back and worked the sentence out. THIS IS THE FUN PART OF ESSENTIALS!! :D I had our work double checked with a few outside sources.
CLASSIFICATION: Cd, Dec/S-Vt-DO, Dec/S-Vt-DO
The hang up was with the Prepositional Phrase. CC has given us a published list of parts of speech. The word 'as' is only found in our conjunction list, not in our preposition list, but know that list is not exhaustive. In this sentence, 'as' is our preposition and we have a compound OP- state and state. The Pr. phrase is ADVERBIAL as it is answering the question HOW did Missouri enter- slave or free.

Within
our table groups, we took time to listen to eachother’s paper. While our
friends read their paper, the audience listened and documented any stylistic
techniques using the scavenger hunt.
